Research & Proof
Good intentions are not proof.
Four separate categories, never mixed
What we know
Things directly observed or verifiable — a process step exists, a form is re-entered twice, a signal drops in a given place.
What the evidence supports
Patterns that data or repeated observation reasonably support, stated with their limits and without overreach.
What we are testing
Open questions currently being examined, where the honest answer is still not settled.
What we do not know yet
Gaps we can name. Naming them is part of the work, not a weakness in it.
Friends Don’t Lie.
Internally this is the standard applied to every claim Companion makes, in writing, in conversation and in front of a client. It is a professional discipline, stated plainly:
- Do not call an assumption a fact.
- Do not hide uncertainty.
- Do not invent success.
- Do not claim something worked until it has been checked.
- Do not sell technology simply because technology can be sold.
We do not score people. We score requirements.
A system or process requirement can fail without the human being turned into “the failure”. When a step is missed, the useful question is what the requirement asked of the person, whether it was reasonable, whether the information was available, and whether the process made the correct action the easy one.
Scoring requirements produces something you can repair. Scoring people produces defensive behaviour, hidden problems and worse information next time.
The method
Find the leak.
Understand what is actually happening, not simply what is supposed to happen.
Fix the leak.
Remove or repair the unnecessary burden at its source.
Rebuild the bridges.
Make information, support and responsibility travel properly.
Prove the repair.
Test the result in the real world and show whether it actually worked.
Current communication research
Companion is at an early, exploratory stage of examining what stops people from saying what they need to say — including delayed conversations, fear of the response, worrying about being a burden, and difficulty finding the words at the moment it matters.
This work is exploratory. It does not establish causation, and it makes no claim of clinical effectiveness. Nothing here is a diagnostic tool, a treatment, or a substitute for professional support.
“What matters here that is being missed, lost, misunderstood or not carried forward?”
